Many believe that the reason behind the delay of white iPhone 4 is the ongoing row over the iphone's antenna problems, which is also dubbed by the media as "antennagate". Considering the recent developments-- delaying white iPhone 4 launch, a press conference dedicated on antennagate and claims that all smartphones have signal problems-- it's pretty apparent that Apple Inc. is admitting its fault.
For a layman, delay of a white iPhone 4 is really unconvincing. After all, the company makes phones and all they need to do is change the color. But the fact is that Apple has announced delay of white iPhone 4 launch. And it's reported that launch could take place by the end of this year. At top of that Apple has said that it will delay rolling out of black iPhone 4 as well.
Business Week, like others, believes that delay is deliberate and that the Apple is buying time to tweak the antenna design in the new white version. The delay, it added, is linked with whole "antennagate" controversy that surrounded Apple over the week. Tweaking design is not that simple as it may sound. The process is followed by a series of engineering, assembling etc etc. However, Apple has never shied away from the hardwork, as it recently said that its engineers were working their butts off to solve the problem.
Having said that, the company if it resorts to change in hardware or make some significant changes, it will be certainly picked by technology publications. And if Apple tweaked it, it will reflect Apple had admitted its failure/flaw in iPhone 4. Well, it will be really interesting to see whether the company does it or comes up with something different/unexpected. But it's apparent that they are facing tough time with white paint.
