Verizon’s spokesman John Johnson said that the firm has no plans to carry Apple’s iPhones in immediate future. The announcement has disappointed a lot of of iPhone users who have expressed dissatisfaction over AT&T services who once again have to contend with the idea that there is no Verizon iPhone release date coming soon.
In an interview, Verizon spokesman John Johnson said that the company had no plans to step into iPhone business in near future. The announcement has deflated all speculation that Verizon will host the Apple smartphone any time soon.
So it is almost accepted now that Apple will announce iPhone 4G release date with AT&T again at WWDC 2010. According to reports, AT&T has the exclusive rights to carry iPhone till 2012.
But that is not the reason to believe that iPhone can not be carried by other networks before that as the contract can be scrapped by number of ways—including one that involves making huge payments to AT&T.
But Verizon is unlikely to make such heavy payments and it might prefer waiting until the contract expires as per some of the analysts. Speculations are rife that Verizon and Apple have failed to develop a consensus on the deal.
Apple’s iphones are facing stiff competition from Androids. According to a recent report, Androids have witnessed more sales than iPhones. Many believe that Verizon’s association with Apple can do wonders for iPhones.
