The makers of Chevrolet, General Motors, today announced that they have inked a deal with television and movie star Tim Allen to be the new ‘voice of Chevrolet’. The company added that the famed television star will lend his voice for a series of commercials for Chevrolet’s new vehicle, the Chevrolet Cruze, which is expected to hit the road next year.

The commercials will starts airing on September 7. The commercials will use accolades from the news media and comparisons to competitive cars in the compact segment market the Cruze and make it popular among the masses.

Talking about General Motors decision to hire Tim, Jim Hall, principal at 2953 Analytics in Birmingham said that even if some don't recognize Allen, his voice will be able to make the commercials popular. Hall added that Chevy should stick with Allen in order to use the commercials for its benefits. "Consistency is far more important, to tell you the truth, than who" voices the commercials, he said.

In a press statement, General Motors said that the ads will be followed by additional television ads with a large social media component. The company will also try to integrate the product in relevant shows and events and advertising highlighting the features and benefits of the Cruze.

Tim Allen is best known for his role on the TV series ‘Home Improvement’ and is also known for his voice of Buzz Ligtyear in the ‘Toy Story’ trilogy. The 57-year-old star has also dubbed for ‘The Santa Clause’ franchise.
