Jailbreaking was a real life saver for a large chunk of users who used smartphones. Whatever they didn’t like, they changed or modified the device to eliminate the limitations by a simple jailbreak. And to the utter disgust of all the mobile phone companies, this act is considered absolutely legal under the legislation of the United States of America.
However, a new Android phone has taken matters into their own hands to stop these events. The G2 from the house of T-mobile has ensured that it does not accept any modification whatsoever. So all jailbreakers be notified, you may try to jailbreak the T-Mobile G2 but it would automatically restore itself back to its factory settings.
There is a general notion among many people that once buy a device, then you own it and it is totally up to you to decide what you want it to do or what you want to do with it. That school of though has been laid to absolute rest by this new way smartphones counter to jailbreak. This is not the first time though that steps have been taken to curb jailbreaking. Companies like Apple and Google have taken steps to address this particular issue.
However, all previous measures have been bypassed one way or another. The steps taken in this case by HTC seems a whole lot more fool proof. However, no other carrier or mobile maker has been able to do something like this. Devices being able to reset themselves have been previously unheard of.
It is still very much in the mist though as to the kind of technology that is being used to empower the device to such an extent. Androids were always susceptible to jailbreaking and a lot of people really liked that feature. But now all that is out of the window. It will be interesting to see what the future holds after so much of security strengthening.
