Verizon released Motorola Droid X and Droid 2 in quick succession and both are touted as two of the best smartphones from Verizon's stables. The added attraction is the Android 2.2 Froyo update.
As you know Droid comes with Android 2.2 Froyo pre-installed so its all good but Droid X Froyo update is another story.
As you know this also already, there is a leaked Droid X Android 2.2 Froyo update out there but along with Motorola warning against downloading it, experts advise to not use it as well. Turns out, if you download it, you forgo your Verizon warranty and support but also you could end up with a bricked handset.
Now why Motorola Droid X is not getting the Froyo update? Well, no one has any idea though there are some rumors doing rounds even as there is no official release date yet. There are rumors about a production related issue delaying the Froyo update.
Well, at least Droid X getting the Froyo update is certain, its just the date when it happens which is not certain.
Meanwhile Droid 2 coming already with Froyo installed is doing well and next in line is it R2-D2 star wars edition which is generating a lot of buzz.
