Listening to users' complaints about the D-pad, Microsoft on Tuesday unveiled its new wireless Xbox 360 controller, which comes with a new D-pad that turns from a plus to a disc. The new Xbox 360 controller priced at $64.99 available only bundled with the Play and Charge Kit and will go on sale November 9.
The difference with the old is that the A,B, X, and Y buttons will be gray in color in place of the regular red, green, yellow, and blue. Also it features a concave design on the analog sticks and a matte silver color.
Talking about the reason for developing the new controller, Larry Hryb, Xbox Live programming director in a video demo said, "We've heard from the community that you're not big fans of the D-pad, so the engineers went back into the laboratory and came up with this ingenious solution,"
"It is a revolutionary D-pad that transforms from a disc into a plus … with the twist of a hand."
Hryb also said Microsoft has patented this new D-pad technology.
The controller boasts of 2.4-GHz wireless technology with a 30-foot range in addition to the bundle including the play and charge cable for up to 35 hours of game play per charge. You can use up to four controllers simultaneously with one console.
The controller is likely to release in Europe sometime in February.
