Internet search giant Google Inc. yesterday said in a regulatory filing that it spent $1.6 billion in 40 acquisitions in the first nine months of 2010. "In August 2010, we completed the acquisition of Slide, Inc. (Slide), a privately-held social technology company for a cash consideration of $179 million," Google revealed in a regulatory SEC filing.

"In May 2010, we completed the acquisition of AdMob... [for] $681 million, consisting of the issuance of approximately 1.2 million shares of our Class A common stock and assumed vested options valued at $655 million, and cash of $26 million," the company added.

"The purchase price for [On2] was $123 million, consisting of the issuance of approximately 174,000 shares of our Class A common stock valued at $95 million, based on the closing price of our Class A common stock on February 19, 2010, and cash of $28 million," Google said in the regulatory filing.

The biggest acquisition was mobile advertising company AdMob Inc., which was acquired by Google for $861 million on in May. AdMob's CEO Omar Hamoui resigned yesterday. The next biggest deal was the acquisition of social networking app developer Slide for $179 million and $123 million was spent by the search giant on the acquisition of video software maker On2 Technologies, according to the company's quarterly report filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The AdMob acquisition and the On2 acquisition were announced in 2009, but were sealed this year. Google's acquisition of the ITA is still under investigation from the FTC and the FTC is yet to approve the acquisition. Google has offered to pay $700 million for the acquisition of flight data and software provider.
