It is no secret that whenever its time for celebration for Google, it is also a time for a Doodle. So, it was no surprise to anybody when the search homepage featured the legends of Freddie Flintstone and his wife Wilma and the rest of the pack from Bedrock as a Doodle on the 30th of September.

After all, it was on the same date in 1960 that the great “Flintstones” was on view for the first time on the ABC network. It was much later though that “The Flintstones” became a household name across North America and the world.

But like we said before, Doodleversaries are no strangers to the family of Google. Some of these have been on displays, while others have come through featuring only for those countries that would find them relevant. One of the most famous Doodles to feature on the home page was that of Claude Monet which was viewed across the globe on 14th November, 2001. Sputnik was another huge success which was featured in 2007, on the 4th of October. The pioneering manmade satellite had landed on moon exactly 50 years before.

The 2008 new years’ day was paying tribute to TCP/IP for the homepage of Google. It was also the 25th birthday for the technology’s implementation. In the same year, another Doodle achieved great success and fame. On the 10th of September, the LHC or the Large Hadron Collider was on the search homepage across the globe.

And if that is how Google celebrates anniversaries, Martin Luther King Jr. couldn’t have been omitted for their doodleversaries. In 2009, his birthday was archived on the 19th of Jan. The landing on moon from Russia was archived, so USA was sure to have their achievement archived as well.

July 20 of 2009 saw that doodled on the search homepage. It was displayed only in selected countries though. 2009 also saw the archiving of the Wall of Berlin’s fall. It was displayed in Germany on 9th November. 40, Sesame Street also got its due on the very next day across a few countries.

In 1894, the man was born who would go on to become a legend for creating the celebrated cartoon character, Popeye. A good 115 years later, the birth anniversary of EC Segar got its due too. And among famous makers in the media, Akira Kurosawa couldn’t have been missed. Google made sure they didn’t when he got on one of the doodleversaries of the search homepage on 23rd March this year. It was only disoplayed in selected countries though.
