Giants player Barry Zito was reportedly involved in a two-car traffic accident that took place in West Hollywood on Wednesday night.
The Giants left-hander who was taken to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, did not appear to be seriously hurt, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The accident took place near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Sunset Plaza Drive in the small suburb bordering Los Angeles and Beverly Hills, which is not far from where the sportsperson has a home in Hollywood Hills.
According to a watch commander for the police department, officers were probing the accident and that Zito was listed on the report as a party to the accident. This means that the officers did not deem him to be the one at fault. "It was just to be checked out if he had injuries or not, and I believe he was released from the hospital," Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman said.
The Giants had arrived in Los Angeles late on Wednesday afternoon, after having played their final exhibition against the Oakland Athletics in San Francisco. On Sunday night, Zito is to pitch the fourth game of the season-opening four-game series at the Dodger Stadium.
