Alaska Senate Race Result : Lisa Murkowski says she is positive about her write-in campaign for re-election. In a statement she said that while she is "not yet complete with making history," she is "poised and it feels good." Murkowski also said that she fully intends to convene with the Republicans if she wins the re-election as a write-in candidate.

In an interview on Thursday, Murkowski criticized the former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who rallied for the official GOP Senate nominee, Joe Miller. Murkowski said she does not support a presidential bid by Palin. She described Mrs. Palin as lacking "a worldly approach."

Apprehensions over Murkowski's intentions caused a flurry on Sunday after her announcement on CNN that she would return to a new Congress to represent Alaska and not the GOP.

Her spokesman, Steve Wackowski, issued a statement on Sunday that she's a lifelong Republican and that she hasn't changed her morals and fully intends to support the GOP if she won a majority.

Lisa Murkowski is currently involved in a electorial race with GOP rival Joe Miller and Democrat Scott McAdams.

As of this Wednesday, write-in votes had 41 per cent; GOP nominee Miller had 34 per cent and Democrat Scott McAdams had 24 per cent. The margin between write-ins and Miller was about 13,500 votes.

The eventual outcome of the election will be significant not only for Murkowski and Miller but also for former Mrs. Sarah Palin, who emerged in the later days of the campaign to support Miller.

The last word on the election is not expected until well into December, since December 4 is the deadline to request a recount and December 9 is the deadline for an election contest to be filed in state court.
