Apple’s latest device- the iPhone 4 is regarded by many as the best smartphone to hit the market so far, despite its reception problems, which is due to some flaw in its antenna design and which can be fixed using a case. Lets see why it is a good idea to own an iPhone 4 and then on the other hand why its not.
Why having iPhone 4 is a good idea:
The iPhone 4 provides a much improved smartphone platform than what RIM is offering with its flagship device, the BlackBerry. The iPhone 4 also comes loaded with much better tools and security features for IT admins to manage the device within a network infrastructure than any other OS.
We all know that iPhone has now become an important part of life of millions of people in the US and people have already invested time and money in the iPhone culture. There is no denying the fact that Android Market is growing fast, but it still does not has a fraction of the apps available with Apple.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs said in a press conference last week that the various issues being reported with the iPhone 4 would not affect the device in the long run. He claimed that the issue has been overblown by media and I think Jobs was right.
Now let’s see what are the problems with iPhone 4 & why keeping it is not a good idea:
The iPhone 4 antenna/reception issue is due to a flaw in the iPhone 4 antenna design, which means it is a hardware issue. Jobs offered free case to fix the issue but I think that it could only truly be fixed by re-engineering the antenna of the smartphone.
Besides antenna issue, the iPhone 4 users could also face proximity sensor issue. The proximity sensor is used to disable the display and prevent inadvertent actions while the user is engaged in a call but in case of iPhone 4 it is flaky.
Apple runs on iOS and many experts believe that Android is more capable than iOS as a smartphone OS. It has true multitasking and it supports Adobe Flash content as well. It follows a more open culture unlike Apple’s control-freak culture.
