Verizon iPhone 4 No Longer A Priority As Verizon Focuses On Android Powered Devices

Though analysts have predicted a 2011 release for Verizon iPhone, latest reports indicate that Verizon is no longer interested in a Verizon iPhone 4. Some say the reason is the various issues bugging iPhone 4 after its sale began, and customer complaints which had not entirely to do with AT&T’s network but more with the handset developer- Apple. So what Verizon is focusing on now? Its offering its full support to Android OS. In that direction, Verizon Wireless and Motorola unveiled Droid X on Wednesday to compete with Apple’s iPhone 4 which went on sale just a day after, on Thursday.

Clearly, Verizon wanted to take the shine off iPhone 4’s sale day. Apple is the top honcho in the smartphone club and two recent devices have tried to give the top gun a run for its money. Sprint’s HTC EVO 4G and Verizon’s Motorola Droid X might even succeed in their endeavors of attracting Apple’s customers to them. So though its not Verizon iPhone but Droid X is expected to give tough competition to iPhone 4.

There has been a lot of talk about HTV EVO 4G being the toughest competitor to Apple’s iPhone 4. The focus has now shifted to Motorola’s Droid X. Like EVO, Droid X is also an android OS based smartphone.

The features that Droid X boasts of are numerous. It has an eight megapixel camera, records in 720p High Def and plays back in High Def. The phone also has a HDMI port that allows the users to connect to a HD television. Like EVO 4G, Droid X too can function as a mobile hotspot allowing up to five devices to connect through wi-fi. That requires the users to have a 3G mobile hotspot plan.

Another feature that it beats iPhone 4 in is its ability to support Flash Player. Everyone is aware of the rift between Apple and Adobe owing to the disagreement about iPhone and iPad not having Flash support. Another pleasing feature of the phone is that it allows the user to have as much as 8 browser windows open, while surfing the internet.

The internal memory provided by the phone is 8GB but it can be increased by using microSD cards. The user can use a 16 GB card to expand the memory to 24 GB or by using a 32 GB card the memory can be expanded to 40 GB.

Another advantage that Droid X has over iPhone 4 is that the user can replace and remove the battery from the phone anytime he feels like. In case of Apple it is common knowledge that the battery can not be removed or replaced unless it somehow dies out. Then the user has to take the iPhone to an AT&T or an Apple store to get the battery replaced.

Apple’s applications are a matter of common delight. But the Android based devices have been catching up. Droid X does not disappoint as an android device either, featuring many android based applications. It also has the NFL mobile app that is only available on the Verizon network. And the Blockbuster App, which allows the users to watch movie on the phone.

Droid X is an excellent choice and could very well take on iPhone 4.
