What Verizon Launching 4G LTE Service Implies For Verizon iPhone

Reports of Verizon and AT&T testing their 4G networks have only given a boost to the expectation of a Verizon iPhone. Verizon will apparently start its 4G network by the end of the year and whilst AT&T will do so by the midlle of the next year.

It has been often discussed that Apple might be delaying the release of the iPhone on Verizon until Verizon gets its 4G network up and running. This might be so that Apple can lay claim to be the first phone offering 4G connectivity on Verizon’s netwrok thus giving it a point ablove all the rest of its ocmpetitors.Consequently if the Verizon 4G network is about to get functional withing 2010 then that increases the possibility of the launch of the Apple iPhone 4 on Verizon’s netwrok.

According to reports on the technology website SciTech Today, Verizon has recently licensed the 700 MHz spectrum from the FCC which would enable data transfer at far greater speeds than what consumers are used to at the moment with 3G networks. The wesite has also said that in all probability Verizon could also have in its kitty an Apple i-Phone which uses LTE technology.

The grapevine is full of rumours about Apple iPhone on Verizon airwaves ever since the launch of the Apple iPhone, but neither company has come out and issued any sort of clarification on the matter. If Apple does decide to end its sole carrier contract with AT&T and also partner with Verizon for the next gen iPhone, it could stand to gain a lot of profits.

But, Verizon seems to be the better deal for Apple as the carrier have more mobile subscribers than Sprint. Demand For Verizon iPhone Unlikely To Be Reigned In By BlackBerry Torch

Speculations are strong that AT&T is positioning the BlackBerry Torch, the latest smartphone out of Canada-based handset maker Research In Motion, as a replacement for when the Big Blue finally loses exclusivity of its flagship device-the hugely popular Apple iPhone. Rumors are abound that once Apple will end its exclusivity deal with AT&T, iPhone will be coming to Verizon (Yes, the much talked about Verizon iPhone).

Most Droid X reviews have praised the device.

Verizon iPhone: The Reason Why AT&T Commissioned BlackBerry Torch?

Here is an interesting observation by Elizabeth Woyke that I came across in Forbes.com. The BlackBerry Torch, which was released yesterday by Research In Motion at a press event in Manhattan, may help AT&T, which will sell the phone in the US, to retain its customer base if Apple decides to give iPhone to another US carrier (Verizon iPhone is the reference here). AT&T told Forbes that Torch, the sliding touch-screen BlackBerry, is its most significant non-iPhone launch this year. The smartphone will go on sale on August 12 for $199.
