A new variant of the Motorola Droid X is set to head towards Verizon Wireless. Motorola Droid X SE which reflects its “Special Edition” or “Silver Edition” status has been sighted in a leaked photograph recently. Physically, this new handset has shed off the black bezel of the Motorola Droid X and replaced it with a silver one.

Motorola Droid Pro Aims To Woo BlackBerry Customers: Motorola’s new Droid Pro for Verizon Wireless aims at Research in Motion’s reigning king of the enterprise, the BlackBerry. Although Motorola’s Droid, Droid II and Droid X are efficient for business professionals, no other Android devices have targeted RIM with such exactitude. According to the reports of CTIA trade conference held last week in San Francisco, Motorola’s (MOT) Android phones are set to undertake RIM’s BlackBerry. Andrew Berg reported in Wireless Week that Motorola’s new Droid Pro for Verizon Wireless is eyeing on adopting Research in Motion’s (RIM) BlackBerry, “the reigning king of the enterprise.”
“While Motorola’s Droid, Droid II and Droid X are probably proficient on the business side of things, no other Android phone has targeted RIM with such precision,” he wrote. Further Andrew Berg added about Droi Pro that, “Will it make a dent in RIM’s sales? It’s probably too early to say. To be sure, it’s worth the effort Motorola put into attracting a portion of BlackBerry users with a similar look and feel, while slipping the Android platform underneath as a buzz-worthy alternative to RIM’s offerings.”

According to Good Technology’s latest activation report ,Apple iOS devices followed by Android smartphones and Windows Mobile OS run handsets have taken a major share of the index crafted for net new activations within a period spanning June 2010 and September 2010 and among Android devices Motorola Droid X takes the lead.

Motorola is reportedly all set to release its next Android-powered smartphone, the MB520 Kobe on AT&T’s network, referred to as mini Droid X by many. The new device is expected to take second place behind the Samsung Captivate and Motorola is taking the handset to various certification organizations including the WiFi Alliance and the UPnP Forum where it was given the designation “Kobe ATT”.

Motorola’s Android-powered device, the Droid X which went on sale from August 15, has received a leaked Android 2.2 Froyo ROM yesterday and some Droid X owners already installed the update. Notably, this is a leak and not an official release. Unfortunately, there is no official word either from Verizon, which carries the Droid X, or Motorola, that when the Droid X owners would start receiving the update. Latest rumors however, suggested that Verizon won’t start rolling out the update until next month.
