The Galaxy S runs on 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor, which analysts, makes the device the quickest Android phone till date. It did a good job in all the tests conducted for the device, almost on par with iPhone 4. Battery life was another high feature of the phone. It lasted a day of heavy use and would last two days for right to moderate use, analysts say.
Analysts rated call quality and the speaker good in Galaxy S. However, the same signal problem was noted in the device that was reported in iPhone 4.But, analysts said it wouldn’t be an issue unless one is in a weak area. Otherwise, they experienced no dropped calls and call quality was good. The 5-megapixel camera wasn’t as good as the one with iPhone 4. But, the video mode was better, shooting at 720p, 30fps. The device has Swype software that makes typing faster and accurate.
Powered by Android 2.1, the social networking tools are good, analysts say. However, it offers only MySpace, Facebook and Twitter feeds, and contact and calendar synchronization. The device will cost £25 per month, 24-month contract for an overall cost of £600 in UK.
