It seems that South Korean handset maker Samsung has decided to establish itself in the smartphone market as the company has released Galaxy S smartphones to make the competition tougher. The Galaxy S come loaded with a “Super AMOLED” technology with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The screen of the device is bright and colors are intense.
The Galaxy S runs on 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor. The device boasts of a long battery life, much longer than the iPhone 4 and Motorola Droid X.
The call quality and the speaker of the Galaxy S are good. However, the device also showed same signal problem, which was noted in iPhone 4. But, the problem in Galaxy S is not so severe and dropped calls were noted only in areas with weak signal.
It boasts of a 5-megapixel camera but the camera is not as good as the one with iPhone 4. But, the video mode was better, shooting at 720p, 30fps. The device comes loaded with Swype software that makes typing faster and accurate.
The Galaxy S is powered by Android 2.1 and the social networking tools are good. It offers MySpace, Facebook and Twitter feeds, and contact and calendar synchronization. The device will cost £25 per month, 24-month contract for an overall cost of £600 in UK.
