Droid 2 vs Droid X vs iPhone 4: With the passage of time, smartphone industry has turned out to be more dynamic than ever expected. The “time” here doesn’t mean decades but less than three years. The point I want to highlight is that today we have hell lot of options for smartphones and the innovations and upgradations have continued to take place at a significant rate.
That brings me to the major options in smartphone market we have today: iPhone (Apple) and Droid (Motorola). Yes, we do have HTC Evo 4G and RIM BlackBerry but stats clearly show that above mentioned smartphone makers are ruling the market.
Apple recently launched iPhone 4 amid much media frenzy. The iPhone 4, prior to the release, was rated as the most revolutionary smartphone and best iPhone we have ever seen. But soon it was surrounded by spate of controversies, mainly centring on antenna issues. And for the first time, its official carrier AT&T, which itself is struggling to remain in the market, was not blamed for the network disruption.
The antenna issues, branded as Antennagate, exposed the flaw in the so called revolutionary handset design. But having said that, I would like to highlight that many believe that antenna issues were overrated and aimed to tarnish Apple image. And there’s no denial to the fact that Apple’s iPhone 4 is far better than its siblings. High-end features, front facing camera and retina display were more than enough to push iPhone 4 sales.
Now let’s talk about Droid X. Motorola’s Droid X is one of the finest Android powered handsets we have ever seen so far. The handset comes with a range of features along with power of Android operating system. Droid X launch was overshadowed by iPhone 4’s antenna scandal but soon gained popularity. Once you are used to Droid X, you will not wish to switch to other handset. The giant screen really glues you to the handset. And switching to smaller display of Evo 4G or even Droid 2 may be a turn off.
Last but certainly not least; Droid 2 is not a grand upgrade of original Droid albeit comes with some significant improvements. It has 3.7 inch Touch Screen with 480×854 WVGA Display resolution. The device backs 16M colors. Unlike Droid X, it is loaded with Slide–Out QWERTY Keyboard. Android 2.2 Froyo is the default OS of Motorola Droid 2.
