Apple iPad Vs HP Slate 500: Computer maker HP introduced its much-anticipated HP Slate 500 last week. The Slate 500 is seen as many as the best tablet device running Microsoft ‘s OS- the Windows 7. Although is HP is not positioning the Slate 500 as an Apple iPad rival, the company has claimed that the device is perfect for business purposes.
Apple’s device runs iOS, has quicker performance than Slate 500, is affordable and has longer battery life than the Slate 500. The HP Slate has an 8.9-inch, 1024 x 600 display, while the iPad sports a 9.7-inch screen with 1024 x 768 display. The Slate 500 supports multi-touch just like iPad. The Slate is smaller than the iPad, but it’s thicker. Both devices weigh the same. HP Slate’s dimension is 9.2 x 5.9 x 0.6 inches, iPad’s 9.6 x 7.5 x 0.5 inches.
Both devices lack a built-in keyboard, but the users can connect an external keyboard in both devices. In iPad you need to use Bluetooth, while the Slate has a USB slot. The HP Slate is powered by a 1.86 GHz Intel Atom Z540 processor, which was developed to emphasize battery life over performance. The iPad runs Apple’s in built OS- the iOS, which is very quick and can run well on significantly slower processors.
The HP Slate 500 supports Adobe Flash, iPad does not. It is to be noted that although both devices offer Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, some versions of the iPad also support for 3G cellular-wireless networking. Slate 500 however, allows the users to hook up the device to a wireless broadband card.
